FineLine Green Tire RFID Bead Label Nominated for Technology of the Year Award
FineLine Technologies will offer an educational presentation on RFID’s role in smart tire manufacturing at the Tire Technology Expo 2019, which runs March 5-7 at the Deutsche Messe in Hannover, Germany. The talk, “Mold, Bladder, Tooling and Press Management in Smart Manufacturing and Industry 4.0,” will be given by FineLine Vice President Jos Uijlenbroek at 11:20 a.m. on March 5 at the expo, which is expected to attract more than 5,000 attendees.
In addition, FineLine is pleased to announce that its Green Tire RFID Bead Label has been nominated for the Tire Technology of the Year Award in the Pre-Cure RFID Bead Label category. The awards are coordinated by Tire Technology International magazine. Winners will be announced at the expo’s gala dinner March 6.
Uijlenbroek’s presentation will explore how RFID technology can help achieve connectivity of tools through nearly all tire manufacturing processes. He will discuss the use of RFID to directly associate individual manufactured tires with the press, mold segment, bladder, dies and other tools used in tire manufacturing. “Thirty-five percent of overall tire quality is directly related to tool management, and yet it is one of the most difficult processes to master within the tire industry,” he says.
FineLine will exhibit its latest tire solutions at the expo at stand 8064 in Hall 21. These will include on-site demonstrations of RFID SMART tagging solutions that allow tire manufacturers, retailers and re-treaders to gather and store production data on each individual tire. FineLine’s RFID technologies, designed for bead, tread and mold usage, are critical to tire manufacturing logistics, supply chain and inventory management, fleet management and re-treader and aviation applications.
Award-Nominated Green Tire RFID Bead Label
Among the showcased products will be the award-nominated Green Tire RFID Bead Label, which is applied when green tires are produced and can be scanned by existing barcode systems as well as RFID readers. This combination of RFID and barcode-based bead labels gives manufacturers the flexibility to implement RFID step by step in a controlled manner. The Green Tire RFID Bead Label solution allows for automatic association (creating a “mother/child relationship”) between each unique tire and the tire-building machine materials, processes and operators. Green tires can be tracked prior to vulcanization, reducing the risk for them to be misplaced or sent to be vulcanized by the wrong press.
