As a long-standing member of the Retail Value Chain Federation (RVCF), FineLine once again participated in the bi-annual conference, designed to drive collaboration and efficiency between retailers, suppliers and all players within the retail supply chain.

The Spring edition, recently held in Teaneck, NJ was indeed a successful event with several informative sessions over 4 days. Sessions included a presentation by John Cox, of FineLine Technologies, discussing labeling best practices, the implementation and benefits.

Attendees sat in on a panel discussion amongst retailers Burlington and Stage Stores, and brands Michael Kors and LifeTime Brands. Industry leaders discussed how they have used unique ticket types to identify which label is applied to merchandise when the vendor receives the shipment.  Ticketing in these instances has also helped dramatically reduce labor costs associated with applying tickets and removing hangers on merchandise for fulfillment of e-com orders vs. store orders.

Technological innovations such as Artificial Intelligence (AI) and Machine Learning (ML), which are causing a major buzz in the industry, were also discussed. AI and ML, were specifically reviewed in relation to how this technology can be used to reduce customer returns. The topic was expertly explored by Newmine, a consulting firm known for its returns reduction platform. Other useful session topics included social media and the impact on retail supply chain and successful collaboration negotiation strategies.

Over a very busy 4 days, FineLine representatives John Cox and Jason Gray also met with major US and international retailers, and suppliers at the RVCF Conference. We look forward to the continued partnership with RVCF and all its members in 2019 and beyond.
