Thank you to our all FineLine employees that donated during the recent blood drive. You’re saving lives!

NORCROSS, GA.  Every two seconds someone in the U.S. needs blood1 and right now there is an emergency need for blood at hospitals throughout the region. FineLine Technologies partnered with LifeSouth to do our part, not only because safe blood saves lives and improves health, but donating blood at least once a year could reduce the risk of a heart attack and cancer. Giving blood reduces excess iron in your body!

LifeSouth, a valued customer of the Data2 division of FineLine, is a nonprofit community blood supplier. Being a community blood center means the blood supply collected from donors directly serves the needs of patients in our community. The blood that’s donated supplies lifesaving products such as plasma, red cells and platelets. And establishes inventory levels for local patient transfusions and reserves of all blood components.

Every week the district supplies more than 750 units of blood to major area hospitals including Children’s Healthcare of Atlanta, Atlanta Medical and North Fulton hospitals. Who are the patients that receive blood donations?

  • Car accident victims can require as many as 100 pints of blood;
  • Cancer patients will need blood, sometimes daily, during their chemotherapy treatment;
  • Children with severe anemia, often resulting from malaria or malnutrition, need blood donations regularly;
  • Women with complications of pregnancy may lose a lot of blood during, before, or after birth; and
  • Sickle cell patients can require frequent blood transfusions throughout their lives.

Grant Toth, District Community Development Coordinator for LifeSouth, shared that “one of the most common reasons why most people don’t donate blood…it’s because they have never been asked!”
