Philips Van Heusen is one of the largest apparel manufacturers in the world. Producing high profile brands such as Arrow, Izod, Calvin Klein and Chaps, PVH contracts manufacturing to facilities across the globe. During 2007 and 2008, PVH and FineLine Technologies collaborated to streamline and improve PVH’s process for managing its ticketing function.

Prior to bringing FineLine on as a supplier, PVH was primarily using one vendor for all of its tickets, tags and labels. Challenges included turnaround times and an inability to consistently meet the challenges of its trading partners. Initially, FineLine was engaged to produce the tickets for only one PVH brand. FineLine and PVH’s supply chain team worked closely together to define the specs for both the tickets themselves as well as for the quality and service standards demanded by PVH and its trading partners. After a successful rollout of the program, FineLine began producing the tickets for additional PVH brands and continues to add product lines.

FineLine produces tickets, tags and labels for PVH from its facilities in the U.S. and Asia, depending on the needs of its factories. In order to maintain control over the process (including cost, quality, service and turnaround), PVH transmits all orders electronically to FineLine with instructions as to when and where to ship the products. FineLine is capable of producing both the designer branded tickets as well as integrated tags for all of PVH’s retail customers as needed.

One of the benefits that Philips Van Heusen has enjoyed due to its relationship with FineLine is that it has been able to significantly reduce the number of tags they print themselves in their own distribution centers. FineLine’s innovative on demand printing technology has allowed PVH to receive a quick enough turnaround such that they do not have to expend the internal resources to run an in-house printing operation.

In November of 2008, Linda Sarentino , Vice President of PVH, and Richard Jaynes, Vice President of FineLine Technologies made a presentation at the Vendor Compliance Federation’s fall conference (I.C.E. Age in the Desert). Titled “Collaborating to Solve the Global Ticketing Challenge”, the presentation outlined the process that PVH and FineLine undertook to successfully meet PVH’s challenge.
